In the 21st century, using Google is like drinking water… you do it a lot. You do it every day, sometimes even multiple times a day. Google quenches our thirst for instantaneous knowledge the way water quenches our thirst in real life. It’s used so much, people even used it as a verb: “Let’s google it.” Okay, maybe that second-to-last one was a stretch, but you have to admit, people love to Google these days.
Now you can use Google not only to find things but also to advertise the things you sell— giving us even more reason to be on Google and start giving them money while we’re at it. No one likes giving away their money. But for Google? At the right price? With the right advertising campaign? You’ve sold us! Let’s look at Google AdWords campaigns in more detail.
Google AdWords Campaigns
Google AdWords is the largest advertising platform. YouTube is there too, but let’s face it, Google owns them, so it doesn’t really count. We talk more about YouTube advertising in our social media advertising section.
Google Adwords offers multiple ways to advertise your business by providing different campaign options and campaign subtypes to choose from. Campaign types can be in text or video, and users can view them from desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
AdWords Campaign types:
- Search Network with Display Select
- Search Network only
- Display Networks only
Search Network advertisements pop up when users search for your target keyword and other keywords related to your business. Display Network ads can appear on millions of Google partnered websites and search engines with related content. You can pick an online marketing campaign that uses one of both networks.
Probably the most common Google ad is for the Search Network. Think about it. Whenever someone searches for a service or product related to your business, your ad will pop up on the top and bottom of the search results. Fancy, huh?
Campaign subtypes let you determine how many settings you want to choose from to customize your campaign after selecting a campaign type. You can keep using the standard subtype, but let’s face it, who wants to be standard? However, things can get kind of complicated, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, standard recommended settings are all you’ve got. Unless you have a marketing firm who is a Google Adwords partner, that is. Our SEO company has the tools you need.
Google offers a partnership program. You have to pass some tests by studying material they provide for these tests to become a Google partner. If you pass at least two, you’re part of a partners program, and you get to talk to Google reps who can help you with advertising options. The partnership program is completely free, but it can be time-consuming, and you must use some money to advertise. And who has time to go back to school when businesses need to be run, anyway?
This is where web presence marketing firms like Post Launch can help. We spent the time getting partnered with Google, so we’ve gotten them on the phone a few times.
